Lea Valley Friends Group

Lea Valley Friends is a very friendly group of people who enjoy walking and socialising, and who look out for each other. A pictorial record of our walks is available on Facebook.

We specialise in Walks of Discovery: interesting and informative short walks of roughly three miles, almost all accessible by public transport. We walk every weekend either Saturday or Sunday. Most of our walks are in London, where we run historic walks and sightseeing visits to museums, heritage and cultural sites, and quirky hidden gems, as well as visits to London’s many and varied parks, walks along London's extensive river and canal networks, and ambles around other heaths, commons and woods within the London area. Some of our leisurely walks are in the Walthamstow Wetlands, Lea Valley Park or Epping Forest, or slightly more distant places.

Of course, no group would be complete without a social side. We have an annual holiday in early summer, we close each year with our Christmas Lunch, we have a monthly midweek lunch where we are joined by many of those who no longer walk, and we organise other social events in between.
