Lea Valley Friends publish three walks programmes per year. Walks are circular unless otherwise stated and are between 2 and 4 miles, usually taking approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on weather, terrain and things to see during the walk. All walks include a refreshment stop, where possible this will be at a cafe or pub. If no such stop is indicated in the programme walkers should bring their own drinks and snacks to consume at the break.
Walks will normally take place whatever the weather. However, leaders may cancel or revise walks at short notice for any reason, including severe weather or transport disruption. Where possible members will be notified via email but this may not always be possible at short notice, and you should check our website and Facebook page for up-to-date information. All walks start on time and we do not wait for latecomers.
Members of other Ramblers Groups are always welcome to just turn up and join us, as are those new to walking. Please make yourself known to the walk leader on arrival. If you are not a Ramblers member, you may join us for three walks, following which you should join Ramblers if you wish to walk again. The walk leader is entitled to refuse to take a person on the walk if for any reason they feel that person would be unable to cope. Of course, you should
always wear suitable footwear and clothing.
Walkers younger than eighteen are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Many of our walks are unsuitable for dogs. However, if you do wish to bring a dog, including a guide or hearing dog, this is at the discretion of the walk leader, and you should seek permission in advance via the Secretary.
All sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards associated with them and walking is no exception. Although walking is a very low risk activity you are responsible for your own safety, and you walk at your own risk. The Ramblers will not accept liability for any accident which may occur.
